About My Clients

Complex trauma, and it’s effects on our minds and bodies, is my area of focus. Complex trauma refers to adversities experienced over long periods of time. Child abuse and neglect; income inequality; relational violence; psychological abuse; and lack of connection or support from your primary parenting figures are all examples of this kind of trauma. I am deeply committed to and humbled by the opportunity to support clients who are ready to tell their stories and create space for healing.

My Background and Approach

I started my career as an educator, working with young children and their caregivers. In this work I found that, more than any particular skill or lesson, it was the depth of the relationship that made the most impactful change in people’s lives. Children who are acknowledged and valued grow into adults who demonstrate resilience and tenacity. After many years of coaching parents in connection with their children, it became clear to me that safe and loving attachment (or lack thereof) is the cornerstone of emotional success and well-being for all people. It was also clear, from the many benefits incurred by parents, that it’s never too late to receive the reparative benefits of a connected, attuned, and empathetic relationship. Recognizing that adequate care is critical for each of us, I have dedicated myself to the mission of creating opportunities for greater support and understanding in my sessions with clients. Trust, security, and relationship are essential to therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Like many therapists, I initially came to the field in search of answers to my own most challenging questions. I am a complex trauma survivor which motivates and humbles me while sharing the healing journey with my clients. I am grateful to have the ability to join in community with others and rise up in restoration together. I have a many-years-long history of volunteering and have done so with children with disabilities and their families, in grief and loss groups, for survivors of gun violence, and with several local animal rescues. I’m from Colorado so, of course, I love to hike and camp. I have a dog, Bea, and three cats, Ramona, Frank, and Lucy. I love to read and am always looking for new book recommendations! I am truly a therapy nerd and very much enjoy learning about new developments in the field. Come to session and we can geek out together!
