About My Clients

My areas of interest include working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma/PTSD, OCD, college/life transition, healthcare professional burnout, and LGBTQIA+ issues.

My Background and Approach

I graduated with my M.S. in Clinical/Mental Health Counseling from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2018 and have experience working primarily with adults and young adults in a variety of settings, including intensive outpatient programs, non-profit organizations, addiction centers, and correctional facilities. I have been working in the mental health field overall since 2015. I currently hold an LPC licensure in the state of Illinois. My goal in therapy is to provide my clients with a safe and non-judgmental space to feel seen, heard, and validated. I am also VERY passionate about reducing the stigma that surrounds the idea of seeking mental health support and strive to normalize each individual’s experience during our sessions. I also emphasize the importance of one’s culture and intentionally create a safe space for individuals to integrate and acknowledge their cultural identity in therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

The way we think and act as adults are often shaped by thought patterns and/or behaviors we have learned over time. I am a firm believer that beliefs and actions that do not best serve us or our loved ones CAN be unlearned. That doesn't mean it's going to be easy or simple, but it is possible. Some of the most important beginning steps is to recognize that change is needed, and then being able to hold ourselves accountable in making said changes while unlearning the negative behaviors of our past. This is something that can be done in therapy and is something I strive to help others with doing in my sessions. Mental health is real. Talking to a therapist is more than okay. You do not have to struggle in silence. Your past does not define you, and everyone is worthy of getting support and making healthy changes.
